Yercaud is a small hill station in the Salem district of Tamilnadu and located on the Servaroyan Hills. It is a calm and serene place with quite pleasant climate throughout the year. It is one of the cheapest tourist destinations of South India. It is surrounded with coffee plantations and thick forests. The word Yercaud stands for “Yeri” means Lake and “Kaadu” means Forest. The nearest airport for Yercaud is Trichi international airport in Tiruchirapali which is 163 km away from the town. Then other airports are at Coimbatore 190 kms away and Bangalore 230 kms away from Yercaud. From these airports there are Taxis and local bus services available to reach Yercaud.

The nearest railway station for Yercaud is at Salem, at a distance of 35 km. Salem is a rail junction well connected with the major cities of south India like Chennai, Bangalore and Coimbatore. To reach Yercaud there are taxis and local bus services.

Summer festival is held in Yercaud for 7 days. In this festival, the deity of the Shevaroy Hills, Lord Servarayan is worshiped. It is celebrated in the second week of May.
The Annual Flower Show is held in May there are different kinds of flowers at display and also fruit. show, dog show, boat race and a fair.
Adiperukku Festival is celebrated in the month of August every year.

Yercaud Lake

The Servaroyan Temple
The Servaroyan Temple is dedicated to Lord Shevaroyan, this temple is situated at the highest peak of Shevaroy Hills. There is a dark cave inside the temple where the idols of the deity are placed. The summer festival is held here every year where the local people gather to worship their God and Goddess.
Green House
It is a botanical garden endowed with numerous beautiful flower plants and trees. There are rows of roses and other colorful flowers. There are in numerous tress ladened with oranges and various seasonal fruits.
Bear’s Cave
It is situated near old Norton’s bungalow in a private coffee estate. A large cave is formed along the bungalow which is said to be the home for bears. It is perfectly safe to visit Bear's cave.
Anna Park
It is situated near the lake and is an important tourist spot of Yercaud. This park is blessed with many species of different plants and trees. In the season of summer, a flower festival is also organized in the park. Other parks worth a visit are Lake Park, Gandhi Park and Children Park
Pagoda Point
It is situated on the eastern part of Yercaud hills. The four piles of stones are arranged in the shape of a pyramid. The town of Salem can be viewed from Pagoda point. There is a Rama Temple around Pagoda point. Few churches to visit while at Pagoda Point are 100 year old Trinity Church, Sacred Heart, Lutheran, St. Joseph's and The Retreat.
The Grange
It is an old castle built by the Collector of Salem at that time named Mr. M.D. Cockburn in 1820. It also served as the resort of Robert Alive who was the British Big Wig of East India Company. It has now turned into a luxurious resort for the tourists.
